Development in Korea’s economy and society has led to a drastic decrease in the labor force and pressure on the domestic agricultural goods market calls for a need to restructure agriculture. Advance application of machinery in tasks related to bio-goods is needed. The department teaches and studies the academic theories and their application related to bio-goods and processes so as to facilitate agricultural production that is fit for the environment and automation technology development related to the production, processing and energy usage in agriculture. By doing so, the department fosters leaders in the field.
In order to respond to global developments in the science field, cutting edge technologies in the bio system engineering field are also taught in the course. The core major courses include basics of kinetics/indepth study of kinetics, mechatronics, computer application engineering, energy, environmental systems and food process engineering. The department also provides opportunities for long-term overseas visits or professor exchange programs. Courses related to advanced technology in the field of agricultural machinery and general machinery will also be open in the future to keep up with recent trends.
